“Stories In The Stones”

If I write down my story for you
We will not Sit together in my back yard Having tea and listening to mocking bird saying Look hear… look hear.

If I write down my story for you,
We will not talk of the lilac that lives by the side of my house or lady of the valley and how these aromas awaken memories from the lands of my grandmother.

If I write down my story for you, we will not Hold watch together as the fire embers
Glow orange after the sun goes to sleep Behind Dogett Mountain

Or listen to the circle of stones that rise Above the early morning mist just Minutes before Mount Mitchell glows Bright on the distant horizon in the predawn hours of the morning star.

If I write down my story for you, I will not Know the color of your eyes, the sweet
Sound of your laughter or the story that Stands just a few paces in front of you
Waiting… to be remembered.
